Pippin the demon dog.

Well, we might be getting rid of Pippin, our dog.

He poops and pees in the house.
He chews up everything.

We thought it would get better once we moved, for several reasons:

1. A fenced in backyard. When we are home, he can go outside whenever he pleases. And he can stay out there as long as he wants. And what does he do? Plays outside for an hour, then comes in a poops in my kitchen.

2. No carpet. Once a dog gets the scent of his pee in the carpet, it is hard to break his habit of peeing more on that spot. So we thought, with no carpet, this would not be a problem. Wrong. He has peed on BOTH doormats at the front and back door.

(Keep in mind that it is not a case of being unable to hold it. We are usually home when he poops and pees. He just does not get it.)

Then there is the chewing thing. I don't understand it. We leave him five days a week from 8am to 5pm. Four out of five days, he is fine. No chewing, except for on his own toys. Nothing to complain about.

But then, there is always that ONE day (sometimes more) when he gets into EVERYTHING. It was the trashcan, until we started putting it under the sink. Then it was our laundry - particularly dirty underwear - until we started closing all the doors in the house. Now, it is ANYTHING he can sink his little teeth into. He tore up BOTH of my paper lanterns. An entire of paper towels *mysteriously* went from the middle of the dining room table to shreds on the floor.

Do you see? It is just too much.

And so, we made a decision.

We will try one last thing.

We are going to lock him in the laundry room, using TWO baby gates - one on top of the other - because he can climb over just the one. We will put a doggy door in the back door that leads from the laundry room into the backyard, so he has NO excuse to poop or pee IN the laundry room. And then we will wait...

IF he stays in the laundry room (i.e. does not climb over the baby gates) without tearing anything up. And IF he can stay in there without POOPING on everything, THEN we will keep him.

Otherwise, we will have to find him another little happy home.

*sigh*

I was really wanting this to work.

But it is just one more stressful thing that I'm afraid we don't need right now.

We'll see what happens.

Ta ta for now.
